About the Piece

Using one of my favorite works of art, Giovanni Anselmo’s Eating Structure as a starting point, I created a series of odes that exist both in the realm of fan art and in the realm of a serious investigation. I wanted to mimic the object itself, its beauty, and its form. The Arte Povera movement has been a huge influence on my work and I often return to the artists associated with this movement for inspiration and focus. This series of ceramic works fail  where Anselmo succeeds, in their investigations of gravity, weights and the ephemeral. These works were never meant to function in that way. They are odes to the original work and are objects about my own fascination with the image and beauty of the original. Each one with a new name.
