About the Piece
Senses at Auction suggests the deconstruction of the fantasy. With it’s prop-like presence, the work collides the imagined past and the present, mixing references and influences. For the SUR biennial at Rio Hondo College, I placed the sculpture on the main lawn. The Senses huddled together on the lawn, facing the vast hills across from them. Inside the Art gallery I installed the Polyscapes, which have the sculptures placed into the landscape giving the land human qualities.
These sculptures no longer exist. They deteriorated as part of the piece, leaving only the Polyscapes and their documentation. They themselves became something of the past.
