About the Piece

These photographic works were developed early in the Selig Zoo series. These photographic studies represent the initial attempts at layering the past history of the site with the present. The enteryway of Selig zoo stood where the Clean King laundromat is today. The corner of Mission and Selig, the previous grand entrance still resonates in these works.

With these works as well as with the works that followed, I wanted to capture the ghostly presence of Selig’s fantasy.
